The Westin Portland, Oregon

If you’re a fan of running on bridges and/or near water, the approximately five-mile route from this property takes you across many bridges so you can experience “Bridge City” at its best. And while Portland has a well-deserved reputation as a bike-friendly city, there’s no shortage of space for both bikers and runners on the wide path along the water.

The Westin New Orleans Canal Place

In a five-mile run you can see gigantic ships along the water, smell the coffee and beignets at Café DuMonde, go pass the famous French Quarter and, if you’re an early bird, run along Bourbon Street as the city cleans up from the festivities the night before.

The Westin Georgetown, Washington D.C.

If you’re a history buff, look no further than this approximately four-mile route from The Westin Georgetown. You can see the White House, Lincoln Memorial and the Washington Monument all in one run. Make sure you bring your camera along with you, as there is no shortage of photo opportunities.

The Westin Michigan Avenue Chicago or The Westin Chicago River North

When I think of Chicago, I picture it cold and windy. But on a pleasant day the run around Lakeshore Drive is one of the best in the country. Many athletes are out there doing the same thing as you and many triathletes make good use of the swimming lanes in Lake Michigan along the beach in the summer.

The Westin Portland Harborview

One mile from the new property is a gorgeous three-mile loop around Back Cove Pond. As long as the weather cooperates, this route is a must. But if you’re okay with fish smells and would rather experience a nice, authentic feel of the harbor, you are a mere half mile away from the Portland Harbor. Once you get to the bottom of a steep decline you’ll be greeted with an immediate smell of…fish. This is the harbor, after all, and fresh, pungent shipments of seafood abound. The views of the harbor are worth the smell, but remember that you’ll have to climb a hill to get back to the property.

The Westin Seattle

Coffee and running seem to go hand in hand these days. Less than a mile from our Westin Seattle property is the first ever Starbucks, which is also directly across from the famous Pike Place Fish Market. From there you can head towards the water and enjoy some gorgeous views before heading back for your cup of coffee.

The Westin San Diego Gaslamp Quarter or The Westin San Diego

Both properties take you along the water, which is less than one mile away. The weather is always nice in San Diego, a city whose life revolves around outdoor fun. The sidewalk can accommodate many runners and walkers so you never have to worry about running out of space.

The Westin Copley Place, Boston

Run by the famous Boston Marathon Finish line on your way to a running path along the Charles River that, in the fall, makes you understand why so many New Englanders take pride in their fall season and its colors.

The Westin St. Francis San Francisco on Union Square

It’s a quick run down to The Embarcadero where you can pick to go left or right. One way takes you by the famous AT&T Park; the other offers views of Alcatraz as long as the fog is friendly.

The Westin New York Grand Central or The Westin New York at Times Square

For the more ambitious runner, you can walk to the subway from either property and be dropped off at the southern end of Central Park in minutes. The outer loop of Central is one of the greatest 6.1 loops I know of.
